The Story

BEAUTIFUL BEAMS
The house still presents a wealth of character throughout, including beams, which still reveal original carpenter's marks, fireplaces and vaulted ceilings.
The couple have maintained it carefully, using heritage paints from the likes of Farrow & Ball both inside and out.
"It was important to us to retain the character of the house. We still have an open fireplace in the master bedroom and an inglenook, with a large wood-burner, in the drawing room.
"With all the oak beams in there, this is wonderfully cosy when the fire is going in the winter."

WOODLAND VIEWS
The three-storey house has a formal dining room, as well as a welcoming kitchen, complete with oil-fired Rayburn.
Upstairs there are three bedrooms of the first floor and a further two at the top of the house. These rooms have beautiful vaulted ceilings.
"The master bedroom is lovely. We wake up to views of the polar trees to the front of the house, and the valley beyond," he said.
"The family bathroom at the back of the house has views out across a 40-acre woodland."
He added: "The back of the house catches the last of the sunshine, making it a pleasant place to sit out until late in the evening."

SUFFOLK LIVING
The attractive Suffolk setting has suited the family as their needs have changed over the years.
"I do think it is an idyllic place for children to spend time. The bus pulls up right in front of the house to take them to school in Eye and then they have all this space right here at home," said Robert. "For those wishing to commute to London, we have easy access to the train station at Diss, and Harleston is a great market town for shopping."

WILDLIFE WALKS
The spectacular Suffolk countryside is there to be explored all year round.
"There are some good footpaths here - you can walk for miles and see lots of interesting wildlife, from barn owls and woodpeckers to muntjac deer.
"It really is very peaceful here," he added.
"Returning home, we come through beautiful countryside and then turn up the lime tree-lined drive. It really is a lovely approach."
