Full description

With exceptional access to Cambridge and the mainline stations at St Neots and Sandy for commute into London this part thatched cottage combines a peaceful and sought after village setting with excellent transport links. The ground floor offers a large lounge with fireplace, kitchen, and dining room. There is also a ground floor en suite bedroom and study which could make an annexe for guests or family member. There are three bedrooms upstairs and a family bathroom. Outside the mature gardens include parking for two large cars.

Picturesque Pipers Cottage sits in an idyllic location, in the much sought after village of Little Gransden.

When the present owners, Tony and Hilary were looking for a home in the area, they immediately fell in love with the house, the village and the general location. Parts of the pretty, part thatched cottage date back nearly three hundred years, while the modern extensions have created a charming family home with great character and comfort.

Little Gransden is a quintessential English village and a haven of peace and quiet. Church Walk is a no through road, and a friend remarked that, when you enter the street it is like having a soft green curtain coming down behind you. There is an active and friendly community, and it is a pleasant stroll to the local pub.

Little Gransden provides the perfect mix of a tranquil rural lifestyle with the amenities of city life in nearby Cambridge. This vibrant and historic city is a half an hours drive away, with a wide range of educational, leisure and retail opportunities. There is always an exciting choice of theatre or concert and a thriving Literary Festival. The commuter can easily access the M11, Stansted Airport is under an hours drive away, and there are rail stations in St Neots and Cambridge with fast services into Kings Cross.

Pipers Cottage has a charming exterior which is a prelude to the bright, warm and welcoming atmosphere you sense as soon as you enter the house. The kitchen is the busy hub of the home. It is drenched with natural light, and a sociable space for daily meals. It semi opens into the dining room, where guests can continue to chat to the cook. It is perfect for formal dining: in winter with the fire glowing and views to the frosty garden, you have the ideal setting for a festive Christmas lunch.

The sitting room with its beams and inglenook fireplace has a timeless and calming ambience, it is a room where you settle into a comfy sofa and simply relax. The enjoyment is enhanced by the five windows that frame lovely views into the garden.

The bedrooms have the same light and positive atmosphere, and with its three windows, the master bedroom has a choice of garden views. The flexible nature of the cottage would enable the creation of a further bedroom or granny annexe.

The garden is an appealing mix of lawn, flower beds and a plum tree, all bordered with a country hedge. This quiet oasis is where it is a joy to sit with a glass of wine, on a still summer evening, under a star filled sky. In the morning the kitchen patio is a sun filled spot for an al fresco summer breakfast.

Tony and Hilary say that when they moved to Little Gransden they thought it would only be for a few year, but twenty years later they are sad that they are leaving the area. They will always cherish memories of Pipers Cottage and Little Gransden.
