The Little Thatched Barn is situated on the edge of the hamlet of East End, the nearest village of size is Furneux Pelham which is about three quarters of mile distant and has a very well regarded primary school, pub and church. The Little Thatched Barn possibly dates from the 17th Century and is a predominantly timber framed building set under a neat reed roof. The building was substantially extended in more recent times by the well regarded local developers Pelham Structures and this extension is part two storey with a tiled roof and part single storey with a slate roof. The accommodation is heavily timbered with a mixture of period and modern features, with a very high quality bespoke kitchen with granite worksurfaces and some integrated appliances. This room opens out in to a sitting/dining area which has doors opening out to the terrace and gardens. There is also a hall, a cloakroom, small study, a generously proportioned sitting room with a fireplace and a ground floor bedroom. There are three first floor bedrooms, one accessed by a staircase from the sitting room and the others from the main staircase in the hall. There are two first floor bathrooms and a ground floor shower room. Outside, there is a gated access to two driveways, one leads behind the stable block and one to the front of the house and to the garaging and barns. There is a formal garden behind the house with a pleasant seating area, lawns and fruit trees, a range of seven stables and a tack room, a horse walker, an open bay modern barn and a large workshop and garaging for five or so cars. An area of hardstanding leads out to paddocks. There may be further acreage available for those with equestrian interests.
From Bishop's Stortford proceed in a westerly direction to the Little Hadham traffic lights. Here turn right heading north through the village of Albury and past the Catherine Wheel public house. Continue straight along this road for about another mile you will reach a staggered crossroads, take the right hand turn towards East End and Manuden. Follow for about 300m and on a gently left hand bend you will see an attractive thatched house in front and the barn is just before this on the right hand side.
