Full description

Chapel Cottage is a detached Cotswold stone cottage in the pretty village of Edge. Believed to date back to the 1700's the property had later additions in the 1800's. Chapel Cottage is conveniently laid out to suit modern day living with large well-proportioned rooms yet still maintaining a number of period features such as the exposed beams, stone mullioned windows and flagstone floors that run through much of the ground floor. The kitchen is fitted with a range of units, with an Aga in the adjoining room. There is a dining room beyond which in turn leads through to a sizable sitting room with an inglenook fireplace and log burning stove to one end. On the first floor there are two bedrooms and a bathroom as well as an en suite shower room from the master bedroom. A further staircase leads to a large bedroom on the second floor.

The pretty village of Edge is set amongst the undulating Cotswold hills, there is a village hall and the church of St John the Baptist. Chapel Cottage is located close to the popular town of Painswick. This charming and thriving large Cotswold village, known as the 'Queen of the Cotswolds', is famous for the fine parish church and the 99 clipped yew trees in the churchyard.

Painswick has a range of shops and services, as well as restaurants, pubs and hotels. Sports facilities include rugby and cricket clubs and six floodlit tennis courts. Stroud, about 4 miles, has a wider choice of shops as well as the award-winning farmer's market. Cheltenham is the main regional centre and offers excellent shopping facilities, as well as the Everyman Theatre, Literature Festival and other cultural amenities.

A good choice of sporting opportunities in the area including a number of golf courses and many equestrian events including National Hunt racing at Cheltenham and polo at Cirencester Park. Excellent walks in the surrounding countryside. Painswick has a primary school and there are various grammar schools in the area including Stroud High and Pate's in Cheltenham. Private schools in the area include Beaudesert Park at Minchinhampton, Wycliffe College, Westonbirt and the Cheltenham Boys' and Ladies' Colleges.

To the front of the cottage is a pretty terrace with far reaching views over the undulating countryside. There is a detached garden which is located further down the lane where there is also parking for two cars.

There is a further 7.8 acres of land available under separate negotiation
