The kitchen and bathroom are north facing, and we enjoy watching the first sun rays touching the treetops of Bethnal Green Gardens from our kitchen window over breakfast. We have an unrestricted view, which is a big plus, and was one of the main reasons why we bought the flat in the first place.
The block is diverse with lots of friendly neighbours flat sharers, pensioners, families and singles and all of them respect our privacy. We love our home and will be sad to leave, but we have great memories of our life here.
Points To Consider - While ex-local authority property might not be everyone's cup of tea, this one really does make sense. You get more square footage than a comparably-priced period property, and it is also likely to have more natural light and storage space than anything else you will find locally within a similar budget.
When it comes to transport links, you are spoilt for choice. The flat is equidistant from both Bethnal Green Overground station and Bethnal Green Tube (Central Line), with Whitechapel (District and Hammersmith & City) a 10-minute walk away. Buses from Whitechapel Road are also reliable and take you towards Aldgate and the City in one direction or Stratford and beyond in the other.
Due to be completed in 2018, Crossrail services from Whitechapel Station are going to make this transport hub even better. It promises to make travelling from here to Canary Wharf a doddle in about three minutes and Tottenham Court Road in seven minutes.
