Brackenwood is beautifully situated with spectacular unimpeded views to the north across the Dart Valley and Gorge and over to the tors, with lovely rural views from all south facing windows.
The house was completely renovated and extended to an exceptionally high standard about eight years ago. This included a new "warm" roof, full Osma underfloor heating, plumbing, electrics and windows, but still retains aspects of its original 1930s character.
There are stables with power and water, a triple garage, one with high entry for a van or horse box, a paddock and an 11 acre field.
The grounds have been designed for 'easy care' with some areas left to nature for wild life. The more formal garden and paved area are south facing, sheltered and are ideal for outdoor living.
From the entrance hall steps lead down to the kitchen/ dining/living room.
Strictly by appointment with the Sole Agents, Marchand Petit Prime Waterfront and Country House. Tel: 01548 857588
Brackenwood is in the Dartmoor National Park, which is a most beautiful, varied and wild area, and the house is a perfect base from which to walk, and to explore Dartmoor's archaeological and historical landscapes. The house is a five minute walk to the lovely Dartmoor village of Holne, where the church and pub date from the fourteenth century. The village has a thriving community shop and tearoom, which is open all year, and also a village hall and second hand book shop run to support village activities.
Despite Brackenwood being situated in a very peaceful and idyllic place it is just 3 miles from the A38 and the attractive and active market town of Ashburton. The coast, Exeter and Plymouth, are all within easy reach, as are Exeter and Bristol airports.
Venues for live music and cultural events nearby include Dartington, Buckfast Abbey and the local villages. There is an excellent cinema at Dartington.
