Full description

A wonderful, versatile non-estate five bedroom detached family home with ample parking. It offers a re-fitted kitchen breakfast room with wine store, sitting room with feature Victorian fireplace and conservatory. The property comprises a ground floor bedroom with en suite wet room, four other bedrooms and a refitted family bathroom with walk-in shower. It boasts a generous garden with a large feature Breeze Hut and seating area.

Tucked away in a quiet spot in the heart of the sought after Cambridgeshire village of Ellington is Number 2 Blacksmiths Lane, a lovely family home that offers both spacious accommodation and a large garden. We moved to Blacksmiths Lane around ten years ago, says Shelina, and what initially attracted us was the propertys generous proportions both inside and out. Our son was very young at the time and he particularly loved having the space and freedom that both the house and the garden offered him.

The house was in great condition when we bought it, continues Shelina, and so we really havent had to do much to it at all, except keep it well maintained and in excellent condition. All the rooms are large and the accommodation is extremely flexible, so we have been able to adapt the way we use certain areas as our needs have changed over the years. For instance, we discovered that the conservatory made a beautiful dining room as its large and has a lovely view of the garden, and so in turn we converted the dining room into a games room. Its a house that has worked extremely well for us as a family.

This lovely home occupies a superb location within the picturesque village of Ellington. It is a place that is enveloped by glorious countryside, and yet it is also a setting that benefits from good transport links and easy access to a wide variety of shops and amenities in, among other places, nearby Huntingdon and St Neots. My son attended Kimbolton School which is extremely convenient to get to and has a school bus service.

Although they are two separate rooms, the kitchen and living room have a very open-plan feel, says Shelina. They are the rooms that we tend to gravitate to and therefore the real heart of the home, and because they are such sociable spaces theyre great for entertaining.

Ellington is a great place to live, says Shelina. We have a lovely pub that has just reopened and is now owned by a Michelin Star-trained chef, so it serves beautiful food, and its only a stroll away from the house. Were also very close to Grafham Water, which is a place that we have fully enjoyed over the years.

The garden is wonderfully large, says Shelina, and the gazebo provides a real focal point. Over the years weve used it an awful lot, having birthday BBQ and parties. As it has power its a lovely place to sit out on a warm evening and listen to music.

This has been a really fabulous home, says Shelina. It has provided us with all the space that we have needed as a family in a quiet yet convenient location. We felt the home was secluded enough to give us privacy and central enough for the school run.
