Nether Wallop, Stockbridge, Hampshire

Description

The house was designed by Philip Jebb, "one of the most admired private client architects working in Britain in the years following the Second World War" and built in 1989/90 by Templeton Walker, a local builder specialising in quality country houses.
The house is traditionally built with classical proportions - painted (in 2013) rendered elevations with sash windows under a slated hipped roof.

Chalkwell occupies a delightful position on the western edge of this popular Test Valley village. Nether Wallop is set amidst some of the finest countryside in Hampshire, renowned for its natural beauty and excellent walks and rides. The village has a public house, The Five Bells, and a church. There is a village store and village hall in Over Wallop. Nearby Stockbridge offers a wide range of boutique shops, art galleries, a range of places to eat, a deli and the popular John Robinson butcher.

The cathedral cities of Winchester and Salisbury together with Andover are within reasonable driving distances and there are regular train services from Winchester, Grateley and Andover on the Waterloo line.

The garden was designed by JN Landscapes of Braishfield.

The south west facing lawn is bordered by a ha-ha and there is a well planted copse to the north of the house with field maple, silver birch and an abundance of spring colour with daffodils snowdrops, bluebells, cyclamen, ornamental thorn, to name a few.

The drive leads past the house up to the garage and rear entrance with access into the field. To the north of the drive there is a substantial cedar greenhouse and potting shed in which is located a working well with a pressurised pump and from which the house was named.

To three sides of the garden is the 3.9 acre paddock.
