Description

IN THE OWNERS WORDS..
'We enjoy the peace and quiet of this property, its lovely country views. We are only downsizing because of our ages. The location of St. Columb gives easy access to Padstow, Wadebridge, Bodmin, Newquay, Truro and the A30.   The local facilities are within walking distance and Newquay airport is less than 3 miles away. We have been extremely happy with the Doctors surgery and understand that the local school/academy is excellent.'

PROPERTY
This fantastic family home was designed with space in mind, which clearly shows in the well proportioned rooms throughout the house. The generous entrance hallway opens into the large dual aspect sitting room with a conservatory to the far end, that enjoys lovely garden and rural views. To the end of the hall is a cloakroom and understairs cupboard. The dining room is accessed from the hallway and has windows over looking the front garden. A set of double glass panel doors open into the modern kitchen that has been fitted with a range of cabinets and drawers, a stainless steel Rangemaster cooker and centre island with polished granite worktops. From the kitchen there is access to the useful utility room which has fitted cupboards, a stainless steel sink and space for a washing machine and dryer. From here one can gain access into the integral double garage.

Three of the five bedrooms are located to the first floor with the splendid dual aspect master bedroom suite having far reaching views over the countryside and benefits from a large en suite bathroom and dressing room. The two further bedrooms on this floor each have an en suite shower room. To the upper floor, which is gained by a turning staircase from the spacious landing there are another two large bedrooms, both of which have sky lights and provide super rural views, there is an additional shower room on this floor.

GROUND & GARDEN
The property is approached by a block paved driveway providing ample parking and leads to the double garage with a pair of electric doors.   Immediately to the rear of the property there is a paved pathway and in addition, there is a separate circular patterned patio to one side providing a lovely area to sit and enjoy the sun. The garden has been laid to lawn and is surrounded by mature shrubbery and trees. From here there are fabulous rolling countryside views out over the town and to the far side of the garden there is a timber shed.

SURROUNDING AREA
The small town of St Columb Major is situated within 6 miles of the spectacular north Cornish coast, well placed for ready access to the Cathedral City of Truro to the south and the Camel Estuary to the north.   Newquay airport being 3 miles away whilst Bodmin Parkway which is on the main Paddington railway line is 18 miles away. St. Columb was originally a linear settlement built on the main road running north-east to south-west with its relatively narrow streets and slate hung houses. However, modern estates have since been built, extending the town to the south and east. The town has a variety of shops, adequate for daily shopping needs, public houses and a bank. The town is now bypassed keeping through traffic away from its quaint streets.

St. Columb church has much history and is dedicated to St Columba, a local saint. The tower is a fine example of a fifteenth-century building, consisting of four stages with battlements and pinnacles. It is approximately 80 feet high and contains eight bells which were re-hung in 1950. In 1920 the chiming clock was added as a memorial to the men of St. Columb who died in the Great War and in 1860 plans were drawn up by William Butterfield, in hope of St. Columb church becoming the cathedral of the future diocese of Cornwall, but the cathedral was built at Truro.
