The Story

LIGHT AND AIRY
By extending the property, they have also allowed a tremendous
amount of light to pour into the rooms. The house has a wonderful
ambience throughout and has been an outstanding place to live.
“The whole place feels very light, spacious and airy. We wanted to
move somewhere where we could have space around us – now we
have it both inside and out.”
MODERN KITCHEN
Perhaps the best example of how successful the renovation of the
house at Broomhill Cottages has been is the kitchen. To look at it
now, the kitchen is a modern, open central hub to the house; it
welcomes in light and air while creating a real sense of continuity
throughout the ground floor space and offering a great social area.
“We spend most of our time in the kitchen because it leads out
onto the garden and into the drawing room as well. It really
connects up the whole house,” she says. “We opened it up into the
dining room so we could have this wonderful open-plan room.”
NATURAL BEAUTY
The property is an ideal place to entertain guests and family
members. All four spacious bedrooms are flexible, making it easy to
welcome guests. “We have had some really big Christmases here
but there’s never been a problem accommodating people,” she
says. As well as being tastefully decorated, each bedroom also
makes full use of the natural beauty that surrounds the property:
“There are the most amazing views from every bedroom – from
the front you can see right across the Bewl Water and from the
back you overlook the Dale Hill Golf Course.”
Of all the work the owners have done to their home, the most
recent was to convert the garage into what is known as the “sun
lounge.” “This is a really special room with huge terrace doors that
open directly into the garden,” she says.
OUTDOOR LIVING
Looking at the beautiful garden, it is abundantly clear just what
influenced the owners to develop such a strong link between the
interior and exterior of the Broomhill Cottage property. The
verdant lawned garden stretches southwards to the golf course
providing plenty of space for children and pets alike. “We have
enjoyed so many sunny days and evenings dining out here with
friends. It is also wonderful to sit out here with a morning coffee
while the bacon cooks on the grill.” Recently, the owners have
added a glamorous dining area; this includes built-in fridges,
charcoal and gas grills and a pizza chimenea. “We have several
parties a year but since finishing the outdoor kitchen we are having
so many more of them!”
A BEAUTIFUL PLACE
Sitting in the village of Flimwell, and within easy reach of Ticehurst,
Hawkwell and Wadhurst, Broomhill Cottages could not be more
conveniently located. Shops, schools, services and the famous Bell
Inn can all be found across these picturesque villages. The nearby
Bewl Water Reservoir is a protected nature area and perfect for
country strolls, dog walking or cycle excursions. In addition to this,
nearby golf courses, including the adjacent Dale Hills, are delightful
for both walking routes and playing a game or two. “'This is a very
peaceful place to live and we have enjoyed being so close to all
these beautiful places to visit,” the owner says. “That is why we
chose to move here from Tunbridge Wells – and it has been exactly
what we hoped it would be.”

Setting The Scene

To the front of the property there is off road parking for several cars.
There is a lovely space to the side of the house with a decked area
and built in al fresco dining space, French doors opening directly fro
the sun lounge and direct access to the kitchen and utility room. The
southerly facing rear garden is mainly laid to lawn and backs directly
onto the golf course.
