Loch Lochy is one of the 3 lochs forming part of the Caledonian Canal, linking the west and east coasts of Scotland between Fort William and Inverness. The A82 trunk road runs through the Great Glen and is one of the prime tourist routes in Scotland connecting Fort William with Inverness which is about 48 miles away to the north east. The location provides opportunities for access to an abundance of outdoor activities.
There is a direct train service from Spean Bridge to Glasgow as well as a daily sleeper train to London. There are popular Ski Centres at Aonach Mor, 12 miles away, and Aviemore 60 miles away. Mountain Biking facilities are also available at Aonach Mor and at Wolftrax at Laggan about 35 miles away. Deer Stalking, Salmon Fishing and Grouse and Pheasant Shooting are all available for let on local sporting estates.
Loch Lochy is included in the Great Glen Ways Initiative which is a project supported by Highland Council, the Forestry Commission and Scottish Canals to promote the use of the Caledonian Canal, the Great Glen Mountain Bike Trails and the Great Glen Way Long Distance Route.
