History
The Coachworks form part of terraced buildings along the north-side of the London Road in an area known as Walcot and were built around 1852. The buildings are now Grade II Listed, lying within the Bath Conservation Area (BCC1997) and the UNESCO World Heritage Site. The buildings were first occupied by Vezey & Co. Coach and Harness Makers who famously built a carriage for Queen Victoria used for coronations, State Visits royal weddings, the State Opening of Parliament and official engagements both here and abroad. Vezey & Co.’s other Royal appointment was to the King of Sweden. The coming of the motor car led to a decline in coach building and after 100 years in the business the firm closed in 1908. The Coachworks were converted to apartments in 2014.

The Coachworks are located at 2 Longacre on the north side of the London Road. The property is close to local shops, gastro pubs and other amenities, and along the main bus route into town and Bath Spa train station. From M4. Come off the M4 at junction 18. Head south along the A46 towards Cotswold Way for approximately 7.6 miles. Take the exit signposted to Bath/Warminster/A36. At the roundabout take the 3rd exit onto London Road W/A4 and continue along the A4/London Road for approximately 1 mile and The Coachworks is located on the right hand side of the road.
