5 year average: 322 salmon/grilse

Location

The Ballathie Fishings are situated on the middle reaches of the River Tay between Lower Islamouth upstream and Taymount and Stobhall downstream. The scenery of the surrounding countryside is typical of much of rural Perthshire with rolling farmland interspersed by woodland. The huge wooded banks are magnificent when viewed from the river, a spectacle particularly in the spring, early summer and autumn.

The Ballathie Fishings with Cargill opposite are wonderfully private yet access is very convenient, making even short visits to the river entirely practical. The A9 is within 6 miles of Ballathie and links with the M90 at Perth, for Edinburgh, and near Stirling with the M9 and the M80 for Glasgow, and the south. There are regular rail services north and south from Perth and a small airport at Dundee with a further airport suited to light aircraft at Scone.

Besides the Ballathie House Hotel there are several other local hotels available for fishermen. Golf courses are plentiful, the nearest being at Blairgowrie and others within easy driving distance include Dunkeld, Crieff and Pitlochry as well as the championship courses at Rosemount (Blairgowrie) and Gleneagles.
