Description

High Oaks is an exceptional, recently completed contemporary mansion with remarkably large, bright rooms radiating from a magnificent circular galleried reception hall under a lantern, allowing in an abundance of natural light.

The house has been designed and built to exacting standards, using high quality materials throughout, including some Italian stone flooring, various marble fireplaces, bespoke fitted furniture and hand moulded plaster cornicing.

Great attention has been paid to modern comforts and security with under floor heating throughout and also air conditioning to all bedrooms, the cinema and the gym. The property is fitted with a Sonus sound system to the majority of the rooms and also has an alarm system throughout with CCTV. Either side of the reception hall are two studies and the two principal formal reception rooms, elegantly proportioned and overlooking the front gardens. Opening from the reception hall is a particularly spacious family room, from which the remainder of the accommodation flows. The kitchen/breakfast room is fitted with hand painted solid walnut units, designed and built by Mark Wilkinson, with quartz worktops and fitted quality appliances. The other side is the games room with oak panelling and is equipped with wine coolers, dishwasher, sink and fridge. The cinema room is fitted with upholstered padded fabric walls, fitted seats and a surround sound system with large projector screen that is linked to DVD and Sky.

The five bedroom suites are accessed from the first floor semi-circular galleried landing, as is the terrace with its infinity pool and “pool kitchen” and “pool bathroom.” The swimming pool terrace and west facing bedrooms all enjoy wonderful views across the gardens, through light woodland and onto undulating open countryside.

Hockley is a large, well-served village in south east Essex between Chelmsford and Southend-on-Sea. It is mentioned in the Domesday Book; however, is thought to have earlier origins following the discovery of a Roman coin and Saxon pottery within the burial mound, Plumberouw Mount. Also of note within the village is the historic church of St. Peter and Paul dating from the medieval and possibly Norman period. The 280 acre ancient Hockley woods, now a Nature Reserve and protected as a site of Special Scientific Interest, are within 150 yards as the crow flies.

The village itself caters for a useful range of everyday amenities, whilst Westcliff and Southend caters for a broader range of commercial, entertainment, shopping and educational amenities.

Of particular note are the grammar schools for boys and girls in both Westcliff and Southend.

Hockley Railway Station provides a regular service into London Liverpool Street with an approximate journey time of 45 minutes. Junction 29 of the M25 is about 16 miles away, opening onto the extensive motorway network of Southeast England. The expanding Southend Airport caters for domestic flights and international destinations beyond.

Hockley is well placed for the open countryside around and, more particularly, has a coastal landscape with the River Crouch and River Roach within easy distance, catering for numerous pastimes including walking, sailing and bird watching.

High Oaks stands in landscaped grounds of approaching 1.4 acres behind a secure front garden with ample parking for numerous cars and a turning circle which, in turn, sweeps round to the garaging to the side. The rear gardens descend gently from a flagged terrace abutting the house backing onto open countryside and are enclosed and protected by mature trees and screening.
