The Story

On a warm, sunny afternoon, the owner of the house on Sandbrier Close enjoys nothing more than stealing a bit of quiet time by curling up on the sofa in the sun room with a good book.
"This is my reading room. When the sun comes round in the afternoon it gets really warm in there and if I want to be on my own for a bit that is where I like to go," she said.
She and her family moved into the detached, four-bedroom house situated in the much sought-after area of Walnut Tree in Milton Keynes nine years ago. Since then, they have modernised the interior creating a sleek, contemporary and easy-to live in sanctuary, which completely fulfils their
needs as a family home.
"As soon as I walked through the door, there was just something about the house," she said.
"I think houses speak to you sometimes and I immediately knew it was the one. It had a lovely feel to it and was situated in a really lovely area.
"I also wanted somewhere I could walk the dog and feel safe. We are in the 'villagey' part of Walnut Tree and it is just lovely."

DESIGNER TOUCHES
Work on the house was completed within the first few years of the family moving in and every single room in the house has been refurbished.
"Everything you see in the house has been changed; we have literally done everything from refitting the kitchen and bathrooms to relaying all the floors and carpets, decorating throughout and replacing all the windows."
The stunning interior has been finished with designer touches, decorated in neutral tones and fitted with high end fixtures and fittings, including appliances such as the
Miele fridge-freezer and Fisher & Paykel dishwasher in the kitchen.

HOME TIME
The kitchen dining room is the place the family most like to spend time together and is where they often congregate at the end of the day to catch up with each other.
She said: "We all spend time in the kitchen at the end of the day when the boys tell me what they have been up to, generally while I am doing the cooking.
"We move through to the drawing room around 7pm or 8pm, where we have installed a feature fireplace, making it really cosy and inviting." Equally the office or study has enjoyed by the owner, who has used it as a base for working from
home, and as a study room for the boys when they were going through their school exams.

CALM SANCTUARY
Upstairs there are four bedrooms, one of which is currently used as a dressing room for the master bedroom, which also has its own en suite bathroom.
"It is a very calm house. When you come home you can breathe a sigh of relief and close the door on the world, and that is how I wanted it to feel.
"I wanted our home to be an easy place to live in every respect from keeping it clean, to entertaining."
The owner has often hosted family Christmases at the house and also had parties of up to 50 people.
"The house is brilliant for socialising because you can open all the doors and it becomes one big circle as every room links," she said.
"In the summer, we furnish the decking outside with sofas and chairs, and it literally becomes another room, brilliant for when we have had barbecues."

FRIENDLY NEIGHBOURHOOD
On a sunny day, the owners often invite the neighbours over, many of whom have lived in their homes on the street since they were first built in the 1970s.
"One of the great things about the way the houses on the street have been designed is that they are all situated at different angles, which means they don't look directly into anyone else's house," she said. "Our neighbours have been brilliant and I will
definitely miss them.
"We are moving simply because we are downsizing here but this has been a wonderful family home to us."
