The area has a wealth of recreational facilities from numerous golf courses, the race course at Kelso, hill walking in both the Cheviots and Lammermuirs, and easy access to many sandy beaches. The area is becoming increasingly popular for purchasers looking for a greater quality of life but still within an easy drive of Edinburgh.
