Situated deep in the fold of dramatic, steep sided mountains and with spectacular panoramic views over its very own 222 acres fishing lake stands the Ty’n y Cornel Hotel, a truly stunning hotel and restaurant situated at the southern tip of Snowdonia National Park. Having been recently and sympathetically upgraded, the hotel consists of an original period house, a modern bedroom block and a converted boat house, all of which provide a range of accommodation for its guests, much of it offering spectacular views. In addition, the owners have the benefit of a three bedroom apartment. The hotel has a strong reputation amongst the angling community and once hosted the Commonwealth Fly Fishing Championships and with the lake being regularly stocked it attracts anglers from far afield today, enhancing its staple trade of walkers, cyclists and outdoor enthusiasts.
Ty’n y Cornel is set in this idyllic rural location within the Snowdonia National Park which in itself attracts around 4.2 million visitors each year, drawn to its amazing landscapes and the wealth of outdoor activities on offer. The hotel itself is roughly equidistant and 10 miles from the seaside of Tywyn and the market town of Dolgellau and approximately 14 miles from Aberdovey.
This well-known hotel was acquired by the present owners only a couple of years ago. They set about a major refurbishment programme to improve the accommodation to a four star standard, offering comfortable rooms with warm and inviting public areas. The new bock was re-designed and now six of the superior rooms which occupy it have balconies which overlook Tal-y-Llyn Lake and the spectacular mountain of Cader Idris. Having undertaken all of this work to regain the hotel’s natural splendour and former reputation, other business interests are making it hard to commit time to the project to ensure its complete success and therefore the difficult decision has been taken to place Ty’n y Cornel Hotel back to the market.
The hotel is situated over three buildings. The main house is built of local construction under a tiled roof, the converted boat house is built of local construction under a tiled roof and the bedroom block is of modern construction, again under a tiled roof.
From the front of the hotel, the main entrance sides in to the reception area with reception counter, opening on to a well-proportioned lounge with ample sofa seating and picture window overlooking the lake. There are ladies, gents and disables WCs. From the lounge, the restaurant is a spacious room with covers and seating for around 40, opening on to a conservatory to the side with tables and chairs for around 14.
The letting accommodation is situated over the three buildings.
