"As soon as I walked in I could picture how we could open up the space and extend the house. I designed and oversaw the work and it is finished to the highest standard," he said. "The rooms are all a fantastic size and there are lots of large windows so it is always flooded with natural light."

EAT, COOK AND BE HAPPY

At the heart of the house is the fantastic modern kitchen.
"It is a large and airy kitchen perfect for family life and anyone who loves cooking. It is modern in style, made of solid oak with granite work surfaces and it has a big table where we tend to eat most days.
"My wife is always cooking and we love having people round for food, so the kitchen is where we all tend to gather to chat. The door opens on to a private terrace area with a pretty pond and fountain, which is a lovely spot to sit."
The drawing room has the real wow factor and a sense of grandeur, which is perfect for special occasions.
"It is always flooded with light, with floor-to-ceiling glass and two sets of French windows, which open on to a fabulous raised terrace," he said. "It is the most amazing space for entertaining and family occasions and it is fantastic in the summer when we have the doors open.
"We once hosted 66 guests for dinner, who were visiting the area from Iran for a conference. It was a very memorable night."

FABULOUS FLEXIBILITY

Downstairs there is a large study and second drawing room along with a large double bedroom and a sun-filled master suite overlooking the garden.
"If it is just me and my wife at home we tend to spend most of our time in the snug and television room. It always feels so cosy and relaxing," said Farahmand.
"We designed the house to be as flexible as possible so the rooms could have lots of different uses, which is great when you have a family."
Upstairs are three further bedrooms, including a second master suite.
"They are all really spacious bedrooms and they have a real charm as they are set in the natural slopes of the apex of the roof. Skylight windows let the light flood in so the bedrooms are incredibly bright and airy with a real feeling of peace and tranquillity."

A FEW SURPRISES

The house is set in expansive grounds, with an enclosed garden, mature plants and shrubs and a large driveway and double garage.
Farahmand has also created a huge games room in the basement, which could be used as a self-contained annex.
"It is a fantastic space, which is finished to the highest standard, with full sound proofing, a window letting in plenty of daylight, a utility room and its own bathroom.
"We have a snooker table in the middle, which everyone loves and its own mini gym, but it could have so many different uses."
The family will leave their beautiful home with so many happy memories and are incredibly proud of how they have transformed it.
"We have hosted some fantastic special occasions here and our sons and our grandchildren just love this house," he smiled. "There is just so much space for everyone to enjoy themselves."
