“In 2013 they decided to knock down the original house and build their dream home, which externally has been designed in a similar style to the old property, so it fits beautifully within its surroundings. However the house as a whole is considerably bigger and no expense has been spared so internally it’s incredibly luxurious. The rooms all have grand proportions, the ceilings are high and there are some stunning features, such as ornate cornicing and architraves, beautiful fireplaces and in the large reception hall there’s a huge central staircase that sweeps up to an elegant galleried landing.

As well as plenty of space for the family and the more formal reception rooms, my parents also had a fabulous home cinema and party room created in the basement area, so not only is it a really exceptional family home, it’s also an amazing house to entertain in.”

“My parents were keen to find a location that was very rural, but at the same time not isolated, and here they found that perfect balance,” says Ieuan. “There are some lovely little villages just a few minutes’ drive away – including Keyston which has an award-winning pub – and it’s possible to hop in the car and be in Huntingdon or even Peterborough in around half an hour. In my mind it’s ideal.”

“Attached to the main house is a beautiful self-contained annex,” says Ieuan. “My parents actually lived in it while the house was being built and they used it as a testbed, so the interior is stunning and really high end. It could be ideal accommodation for elderly relatives or even a nanny.”
