Burnham Overy Town is a hamlet situated in an Area of Outstanding Beauty, only a short drive from bustling Burnham Market. Mainline direct rail links to London can be found at either King's Lynn or Norwich. The Burnhams are a small group of villages clustered around the River Burn which, around the 6th and 7th century, was easily navigable all the way up to Burnham Overy Town. The River Burn is a 10 mile long chalk stream running from South Creake out to the saltmarshes at Burnham Overy Staithe, also affectionately known as "Nelson's River".
