SITUATION AND DESCRIPTION
The Stobhall Fishings lie amongst some of the most breathtakingly attractive countryside in Perthshire. The beat is located some 9 miles north of the Royal Burgh of Perth, with excellent communications. There is a main line railway station in Perth (with daytime and overnight services to London) and the A9 is close by allowing fast access to the motorway network and Edinburgh airport (an hour's drive).

The River Tay is Scotland's longest and perhaps best known salmon river with a catchment of 2,800 square miles, and is renowned for producing some of the most exciting and consistent salmon fishing in Scotland. The river enjoys an excellent reputation for the quality of the fish caught, with a particularly productive autumn run.

The season opens on 15 January and closes on 15 October. The river has a history of large salmon, the most famous being the 64lb British record fish caught by Miss Georgina Ballantine in October 1922 at Glendelvine, a short distance upstream.

Stobhall lies opposite Taymount with whom there is a reciprocal arrangement and excellent relations.

The Stobhall Fishings encompasses some of the most famous pools on the river including the renowned Bellymore and Campsie Linn. There is a good variety of water allowing fishing at different heights, and the beat is well known for its quality fly water. Stobhall is a big fish beat and produces a number of fish in excess of 20lbs each season. The beat is particularly prolific in late summer or autumn and has averaged a total catch of 354 Salmon and grilse over the past 5 years. 30% of this average catch has been landed in October.

THE STOBHALL FISHING SYNDICATE
The Stobhall Syndicate was formed in 1999 and allowed members to secure prime fishing on the River Tay for specific weeks in perpetuity.

Syndicate members have joint ownership of the fishings and the exclusive right to fish for Salmon and Sea Trout during their chosen week.

Weeks may be sold or otherwise transferred.

WEEK 39
The Stobhall fishings are sub-divided into two beats - Upper and Lower, which Stobhall anglers fish on alternate days with Taymount opposite.

There are 2 full time ghillies/boatmen on the Stobhall Fishings and two extremely well appointed fishing huts with heater, cooker, fridge and WC facilities. Access to the huts is by road and track and access along the river bank is partly by track and party by paths with steps to the waters edge.

In 2014, Stobhall anglers will fish the Lower beat on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, the Upper beat on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

An annual management charge is levied each year to pay for the running costs of the fishings. The charge in 2014 for the week 39 rods is £2381.83/rod (no VAT).

In 2014, week 39 commences on October 6th.

CATCH RECORDS
The five year average is 45.4 salmon and grilse.
The ten year average is 56 salmon and grilse.
