Set well back from the road in an idyllic semi-rural location, yet within easy reach of Liverpool or Chester, this sandstone cottage has a beautiful view of open countryside to the rear. It sits on a courtyard with parking for up to 4 vehicles and has a new Calor gas central heating system, modern electrics and double glazing throughout.
Ground floor accommodation
A large old painted oak door opens into the hall which has a slate tiled floor, a window to the front of the property and a radiator. Double half glazed doors lead into the dining room and doors at opposite ends of the hall lead into the lounge and into the cloakroom/WC with storage cupboard.
The dining room has woodblock flooring, a radiator and a large window overlooking the garden and ajoining field. Off this room is the stair case and the downstairs double bedroom /study.
The lounge has an original fireplace with wooden mantle and wood burning stove. There are windows and radiators to the front and rear of the room. The lounge also has a woodblock floor but has been fitted with a carpet.
There are 2 steps up from the lounge to a large fully fitted kitchen with gas hob, electric oven, integral undercounter fridge, dishwasher and washer/dryer. There are plenty of cupboards and a breakfast bar. There is a radiator and a long leaded light window to the front. A large opening from the kitchen leads into the recently extended sunroom with views over the fields and back door.
Upstairs are 2 dormer double bedrooms with radiators and windows to both front and rear. The master bedroom has a separate wardrobe area fitted with Sharps wardrobes and an ensuite bathroom with shower over the bath. The other bedroom has an ensuite bathroom with a large walk-in shower. Both of the upstairs bedrooms have TV points.
On the front of the cottage is a stunning 60 year old wisteria. To the rear is a private garden with mature hedging to the sides and a beautiful view over the countryside. The garden is accessed via a door out from the sunroom and there is also a path between the cottage and the barn next door with a side gate leading into the garden. There is a new garden shed (8' X 5') and a large plastic storage box for logs, boots, etc.
The cottage is on the outskirts of the picturesque village of Thornton Hough on the road to Willaston in a small hamlet known as The Grove. Thornton Hough is well known for its black and white houses. It has a village shop/Post Office, a pub (The Seven Stars), a traditional village green/park/tennis courts, 2 beautiful sandstone churches and the best primary school in Wirral (Ofsted). The lovely country pub with its open fires and smart restaurant, The Wheatsheaf (known locally as The Thatch), is a 20 min walk from the cottage across the fields or a 2 min drive away. Dogs are welcome in the bar area. The recently opened Red Fox is another fabulous pub/restaurant just on the other side of the village.
