6 bedroom detached house for saleStroud, Petersfield, Hampshire, GU32
- Master Bedroom with Ensuite Shower Room, 5 Further Bedrooms, Family Bathroom, Shower, Drawing Room, Family Room, Conservatory, Entrance Hall, Dining Room, Kitchen/Breakfast Room, Utility (truncated)
Believed to originally date from the 17th Century with later additions, a pretty Grade II Listed detached farmhouse having been occupied by the same family, from we understand the 1920's. With brick and part tile-hung elevations, the accommodation is principally over three floors. The floorplan denotes the accommodation which you can see offers a flexible layout of rooms and totals 5,118 sq. ft., (excluding the cellar and carport). The oldest part of the house as you may well expect has an abundance of exposed timbers and brickwork, lovely fireplaces and surprisingly high ceilings of the time. The later additions have classically proportioned rooms and even higher ceilings! Outside, the house is approached through a shared entrance onto a private sweeping drive leading to the house. To the rear of the house is a detached double carport. The gardens are mainly laid to lawn with a variety of mature trees and shrubs. There is also a former grass tennis court. Whilst the house has been loved over the years, an incoming purchaser will no doubt want to carry out some general updating. The house sits in grounds of approximately 1.415 acre. There is an adjoining field available by separate negotiation.
The property is situated on the fringes of the popular village of Stroud, to the west of Petersfield. In the village is The Seven Stars Public House and Langrish Primary School. Petersfield offers a variety of amenities in a bustling town centre. Shops include Waitrose, M&S Food, Tesco and there are numerous boutiques, cafes and further shops. The station provides a service to London Waterloo to the north (in approximately an hour) and Portsmouth to the south. The tunnel at Hindhead now provides congestion free travel north along the A3 to Guildford and London. The town has many active clubs and societies with golf available at Petersfield and Liphook, horse and motor racing at Goodwood, Polo at Cowdray Park and sailing along the south coast. There are many excellent schools in the area including Bedales, Churcher's College, Ditcham Park, The Petersfield School and Bohunt School.
Services: Mains electricity and water. Oil fired central heating and shared private drainage.
From the centre of Petersfield, proceed along Station Road going over the level-crossing, passing the station of the left. Continue to the bottom of the hill and take the first exit at the roundabout onto Winchester Road. At the next big roundabout, take the third exit (passing under the A3) following signs to Winchester along the A272. Continue along the road for a few hundred yards and the property is on the right, immediately after a sharp right-hand bend and before Ridge Common Lane which is also on your right.
