Rannagulzion lies in a beautiful rural position above the River Ericht and enjoys superb views over the surrounding Perthshire countryside and down to the Lomond Hills. Rannagulzion House is a most elegant, traditional country house of stone construction with a painted exterior lying under a slated roof, with pretty overhanging eves, sash and case windows and a quintessential Scottish turret.
Rannagulzion has been altered and extended over the generations to its substantial scale of today. It has had an interesting history; it was the home to James Rattray, who took part in the battle of Culloden in 1745 and was then imprisoned in London but later acquitted. During the Second World War it was a nursing home for Canadian officers and it is even thought that perhaps Queen Victoria sheltered during a snow storm on her way north!
Rannagulzion House provides well proportioned and airy rooms, lying over two floors and boasting a wealth of period features throughout.
