Why you’ll like it:
Hidden from the road by lush greenery, and approached down a shingle path and a few stone steps, is this classic and symmetrical 1960s detached house. It is smart in pale brick, and has a well manicured front garden either side of the path. You enter into a broad entrance hall with the staircase central, and reception rooms open to the left and the right. It was this feeling of space upon entering that first attracted the current owners to the property as it flowed well, and had lots of space for the children to play and grow.
It is immediately clear that this house has been well maintained over the years, and the decor is neutral and fresh so you can move straight in. The generous living room stretches the depth of the house, so it is wonderfully light, and enjoys leafy views from east to west. The white mantle surrounds an attractive electric fire which gives a focal point, and there’s ample space for several comfortable sofas and chairs so the whole family can sit together. There’s a door next to the easterly window which leads out to a sun terrace which can also be accessed from the garden, and is a sizable space to sit and enjoy your morning coffee and papers.
Across the hall is the formal dining room which has a useful hatch through to the kitchen, and easily seats eight at the table, but this has on occasion extended into the hallway for larger gatherings! The kitchen next door has traditional units in white which are offset nicely by a rich blue tiled splashback, and practical blue grey worktops. All of the appliances are integrated to include the fridge freezer, washing machine, tumble dryer and dishwasher, and the Hotpoint oven and gas hob are new, as is the Worcester combination boiler. A back door leads out to the rear garden which has a central path to the detached garages and driveways, and there’s a large storage space below the sun terrace for your gardening tools and furniture. The lawns and planting are again manicured and there’s a pear and two apple trees to provide you with pretty blossom and then fruit when in season.
The staircase has decorative white metal balustrades with a wooden hand rail, and these also encircle the spacious landing on the first floor, again allowing the light from the upper windows to filter down. The master bedroom is to the right, and as with all the bedrooms is decorated in a soothing palette, but also has a smart en suite shower room plus a wall of built in wardrobes in light wood. The family bathroom is next door, and this has a shower over the bath and is tiled with an iridescent border for a touch of luxury. There is a further double bedroom with a double built in wardrobe, and two single bedrooms, which make this house wonderfully versatile, as they could be home offices, children’s bedrooms or guest rooms too dependant on your needs.
Withdean Sports Complex and several popular schools and parks are within easy walking distance too, so there are many attractive features that with make this very happy home for someone in the future.
Bear in mind:
The walls have cavity insulation which make this house very economical to heat, as is the boarded loft space, but it is not possible to convert this into a living space as it doesn’t have enough pitch to the roof.
“We have loved entertaining here and raising the children. It is so easy to access the city from here, yet you feel like you are in the countryside it’s so tranquil; we simply no longer need the space, but we will be sad to leave.”
