Full description

Tenure: Freehold

The Property Wishanger is a substantial 1930's house which retains many Art Deco featues. Situated in an elevated position, the property enjoys some far reaching views and is now in need of certain updating.

Features of note include a double aspect sitting room with an open fireplace, a wood and marble surround and inset with a gas 'coal' effect fire, a spacious entrance hall with fireplace and a good size dining room. From the dining room, glazed double doors lead to a garden room which in turn gives access to the garden. The kitchen/breakfast room has a range of painted timber fronted units with granite work surfaces and some integrated appliances.

Upstairs, there is a generous principal suite with a good bank of wardrobes, a large en-suite bathroom and double doors which lead to a small balcony from which there are some distant sea views. A further bedroom adjacent to the principal suite also has a small balcony with similar distant views. The spacious landing leads to three further bedrooms and a family bathroom.

Wishanger is situated in an elevated position on a quiet no through road which leads up to the Downs, in the picturesque village of Willingdon. The village includes the popular Wheatsheaf Inn public house, a church, a post office and the Thai Village restaurant. Eastbourne town centre is about 2.5 miles distant and provide a mainline train station with services to London Victoria, Brighton and Ashford International, together with an excellent range of shopping, recreational and entertainment facilities. There is an alternative mainline station at Polegate, about 1.8 miles distant, with services to London Victoria in about 1 hour 23 minutes.

The Victorian seafront promenade with theatre complex and International Lawn Tennis Centre at Devonshire Park are also close by. The historic county town of Lewes is about 13.5 miles to the north west. There are channel ferries from Newhaven and international flights rom Gatwick Airport.

Wishanger is approached from the corner of Butts Lane and Melvill Lane trough a pair of stone piers which marks the entrance to the driveway. At the top of the driveway there is a wide parking area for several cars adjacent to the double garage. The driveway continues past the front door and is bordered on one side by a raised lawned area which has been planted over the years with mature trees and shrubs. At the end of this lawned area, through a small wrought iron gate inset into a tall hedge, is a timber garden store.

The garden to the south side of the property is mainly laid to lawn with central beds planted with several colourful rose bushes. The garden is bordered on three sides with some mature trees and hedges which provides a great deal of privacy.
