Full description

The Clydach Dingle dates from the 1750s when it was the first scene of the Industrial Revolution. Iron ore, blackband and coal were collected in the area and transported by tram road to furnaces in the lower part of the valley.

Today all that remains are the patches on the hillside and the abandoned cottages of the workers, a stark reminder of the industrial past. Nature has now enveloped the dingle, wildlife from the adjoining open moorland of the Brecon Beacons has returned, and trees and plant life hide the past.
Amongst all this lies a fantastic opportunity to recreate a unique community away from urban life, yet within a mile of Brynmawr Town and Heads of the Valley road network.

The main dwelling was renovated and partly rebuilt in the 1980s to provide a comfortable home of Two Bedrooms with extra ground floor space. Beyond is a terrace of three stone built workers cottages, now abandoned although occupied in living memory, and suitable for restoration subject to obtaining planning approval. Similarly to the rear is another former shepherds cottage offering scope for restoration.

The land is interspersed by old stone walled parish lanes leading to the open hill on to which the property has registered grazing rights. Next to the hill in the corner of a fields stands a timber and corrugated iron building originally used as a Chapel/Place of Worship not for weddings or burial. There is also the ruins of a pair of semi detached cottages which are subject to a restrictive covenant not to be rebuilt.
