The Clydach Dingle dates from the 1750s when it was the first scene of the Industrial Revolution. Iron ore, blackband and coal were collected in the area and transported by tram road to furnaces in the lower part of the valley.

Today all that remains are the patches on the hillside and the abandoned cottages of the workers, a stark reminder of the industrial past. Nature has now enveloped the dingle, wildlife from the adjoining open moorland of the Brecon Beacons has returned, and trees and plant life hide the past.
