Description
Upper Mill of Strathisla, more commonly known as Piries Mill, is a stone built former meal mill situated close to the River Isla. The building has had the slate roof removed in preparation for its restoration. While the current mill building was built in the early 19th century, it is believed that there has been a mill on the site for several centuries. The property has been in the hands of the same family for several generations with the mill only closing in 1968 on the retirement of the present owner’s great uncle.

The building comprises a two storey former meal mill with kiln. The original paddle wheel and other features are still present and in remarkably good condition. The restoration anticipates incorporating these features and reinstating the revolving ridge cowl to the kiln. The property has its own access track from the public road and sits within extensive garden grounds including a large landscaped pond.
