Steeple Aston is an ancient settlement with roots going back to Roman times, maybe earlier. The village has its own shop and Post Office (a couple of minutes' walk), a popular pub, a primary school dating back nearly 400 years, and a 1000 year old church. The community is enthusiastic and vibrant with activities ranging from WI to bellringing, football and cricket. Designated a conservation area in 1988 it is set in glorious surroundings with the river Cherwell running through the valley. It is also well placed for commuting by road or rail to Oxford, London and Birmingham.

The Cottage is a surprisingly roomy two bed, extended hence providing good living space. It has been owned by the same person for many years and today it requires a good degree of modernisation. However in our opinion this looks to be mostly cosmetic so a new owner could occupy the house while doing the work. The plot is surprisingly good, with a long run of lawn, and past the trees at the end is open field. The front is set back a little way from the road and, while not allocated, the off-road parking is tacitly agreed to relate to each house so you park outside your door.

The side door opens into a pleasant living room with a wood floor. The two windows face the lane and also feature window seats. Overhead there are attractive beams and the central focus is the open fireplace. To the rear the wall has been partially knocked through to the second reception. This is a similar size, with another fireplace to the side, and the window at the rear looks down the lengthy garden. Past the rear lobby the kitchen, up a couple of steps, is a bright and spacious room with a large rear window looking out to the garden. There are work surfaces on all sides with a utility space at one end including a Belfast sink. At the other a range of wall and base units provide good storage surrounding a sink placed to take advantage oif the view across the garden.

Upstairs, Both bedrooms are a good size. The larger is double aspect hence light, with wardrobes built in. At the rear the smaller is still a roomy double, with a view across the garden. Adjacent, the bathroom is dated but a very good size, double aspect with a large airing cupboard providing great storage,

Outside, to the front a low planter bed is lawned. The side access to the entrance is brick paved. At the rear behind the house is a paved area alongside which steps rise to the main garden. This widens as it passes the next door outhouse, becoming a large and lengthy lawn that is very attractive and flanked by a number of trees and shrubs. At the end further trees separate the garden from the private land behind.
