Property Description

Full description

Spinaway is an individual architect designed family home situated in the highly regarded and much sought-after area of St. Margaret's Bay. The property stands on a generous plot with attractively landscaped gardens backing onto open countryside/farmland owned by the National Trust.
This individual home offers versatile accommodation with light airing rooms that flow beautifully and maximise the amazing views to the rear. The ground floor has a large reception hall with attractive Karndean flooring which also continues into the kitchen which is well equipped and designed to flow into the family dining room which leads out to the patio. There is a good sized utility room, a 'Caribbean' theme shower room with mosaic tiling as well as a study and a magnificent triple aspect split level living room with bespoke built-in shelving and door leading to the sun room.
The first floor has an attractive galleried landing, four bedrooms; two of which benefit from en-suite facilities plus a 'Greek' themed family bathroom. Two of the bedrooms also benefit from access to the large rear facing balcony.
The rear garden is designed for entertaining and 'al fresco' dining with patio and barbeque area, thatched gazebo with hot tub, mature shrubs, lawns and two summer houses. The front garden has ample off street parking and the double garage has been converted for use as a grooming parlour and store by the present owners, but could easily be converted back.
St Margaret's Bay is in an area of outstanding natural beauty and is located equidistant between Dover and Deal, which are both approximately 5 miles away and Martin Mill railway station (with free parking) is approximately 2 miles from the property, giving great access to London via the high-speed rail link. With Dover Docks and Eurotunnel also just a short distance away from the house it is perfectly placed for anybody wishing to commute within the United Kingdom or to the Continent.

Our Time Here -

The Vendor's View - When I first saw the property over 20 years ago I made the owners an offer right on the spot! It was the perfect family home, exactly what we were looking for: large, light and airy with a great outlook over National Trust fields and tracks great for walking, cycling and horse riding.
The house really lends itself to entertaining and fun times; the galleried entrance hall, spacious split-level lounge with vaulted ceiling and open fireplace gives the home an inviting warmth and great natural light. We really love the balcony that runs along the back of the house, which has terrific views across open farmland and beyond to the sea. It faces west so we have fantastic sunsets; they really are stunning. There is also an extensive terrace area with a barbecue and hot tub that we have really enjoyed. One of the many great things about the house is that with a family bathroom, a downstairs shower room and two bedrooms with en-suite facilities there is never any waiting or queuing!
Nearby is the post office, several pubs, village shop and restaurants (one of which boasts a Michelin Star) and doctors surgery. The high performing village school is within walking distance and there are several private schools a short drive away - when our children were younger our school run was a pleasant ten minute walk.
St Margarets Bay is a pleasant, friendly village. The beach is fantastic and only a short walk from the house. With three championship golf courses nearby and several local horse riding schools it's just a lovely place to be, especially in the summer and is apparently very popular with celebrities!
Some may wonder why we would want to leave such a wonderful place; the answer is that we dont! However, now that our children have grown up we are looking to buy a house in the village that is more suited to our home-based business. It's a very social home with lots of personality and we will remember our time here with great fondness.
