PROPERTY SUMMARY

A well positioned single storey dwelling providing versatile and well-proportioned living space. The two reception rooms and the kitchen are located away from the bedrooms and the bathrooms, and all rooms enjoy a pleasant outlook to the gardens or to the woodland beyond. The dual aspect sitting room has two sets of French doors leading to the back garden and an open fireplace for warmth in the winter months. The kitchen is located next to a dining room and whilst these are linked by a serving hatch we expect they could be knocked into one to create an open plan kitchen/living space.
The master bedroom has its own en-suite bathroom and there is a separate shower room and WC. Other accommodation includes a good sized hallway and a utility room.

THE STORY

As Gill and Pete watch their grandchildren laughing as they run around the beautiful gardens of their idyllic rural home nestled in the grounds of Bentley Hall, they smile as they recall their first ever glimpse of Woodlands.
"For us it was always a search for the perfect position, rather than the perfect property. We sold our cottage and it took us a year to discover Woodlands, but it was worth the wait," says Gill. "We drove down the most charming country lane and turned into the beautiful grounds of Bentley Hall. Even before we saw the property itself, we knew it was perfect. Then, when we spotted our pretty bungalow, we were thrilled."

ROOMS WITH A VIEW

The couple bought the property 14 years ago and have loved every minute of their time there.
"We have three Labradors and can just open the back door and, whichever direction we turn, there are wonderful walks through open countryside, parkland and woods," she says. "Our bungalow was once part of the Bentley Hall Estate and was the old forge. The dining room and the kitchen are from that original cottage and there is still an old beam running through it. It was transformed into a bungalow and designed with large windows at every turn. Wherever you are in the property, whatever the season, there is always something beautiful to see."

FANTASTIC SPACE

Once inside, the bungalow is incredibly spacious and filled with light.
"My favourite room is the drawing room because the views are just wonderful. There are two sets of French windows and the sun pours in first thing in the morning and stays all day long. We spend a lot of our time in there in the summer with the doors open to the terrace. From there you can really appreciate our magical setting."
The double aspect, sun-filled dining room is perfect for family occasions.
"We use the dining room all the time, especially if we have the family here, which seems to be most of the time as they all love visiting," laughs Gill. "We like to cook and I love the fact you can be in the kitchen preparing dinner, then look up and see the vegetable garden just outside, full of potatoes and runner beans ready to eat."

TRANQUIL BEDROOMS

The bungalow has three bright and airy double bedrooms.
"Our master suite has been completely refurbished; this includes our beautiful en suite bathroom with Laura Ashley tiles. It feels like a little bit of tranquil luxury," she says. "The views from our bedroom are wonderful and I never tire of them. You can just glimpse the roof of Bentley Hall and the tops of the old chimney pots, above the trees.
The bedrooms offer great flexibility and all an excellent size: "We have three grandchildren and they have grown up with us living here so to them it feels like home: they have their own space here, which is like a playroom and bedroom all in one."

IDYLLIC SURROUNDS

Surrounded by beautiful secluded private gardens and parkland, Woodlands is in the most stunning of locations.
"The first time people visit us, they are always amazed to discover how hidden away we are, it is like finding a secret gem. The sun is in the garden all day long and we have benches and seats scattered around so there is always a sunny spot where we can sit with a glass of wine or our morning cup of tea," she says.
"Inside or out, it is a place which lends itself so to fun and entertaining, and we have hosted so many parties over the years. We have a big family and it has been lovely to accommodate them all. When my mum turned 90 we had 40 people here and even though it rained it was no problem."

HAPPY DAYS

For Gill and Pete, life at Woodlands has been everything they dreamed it would be.
"We have got grassy banks and trees all around us and I think one of my happiest memories is watching the children running up and down one of the particular banks, which they call the mountain, laughing and having so many adventures. It is magical place for children," she observes.
"But what I love most of all about living here is watching the seasons and truly seeing nature at work. The parkland at the front of the house is filled with daffodils; you see the bluebells and snowdrops emerging and the leaves changing and falling from the trees. We will never find another place as special as this."

SETTING THE SCENE

Surrounded by the magnificence parkland of Bentley Hall and set within its owned landscaped gardens, Woodlands is a magical property in an idyllic rural setting.
Accessed by a sweeping driveway, it is bordered by woodland and countryside with walks at every turn. The secluded gardens combine mature shrubs and flowers with beautiful lawns, trees and grassy banks. There is also an excellent vegetable garden.
The property has a double car port, greenhouse and a fabulous hexagonal summer house.
"You can find a spot of sunshine to sit in, whatever the time of the day. I have chairs in the front garden so I can watch the grandchildren play and the summerhouse is wonderful, whatever the time of year. I love to sit and soak up the views, whether morning or evening," says Gill.
