Grove House, which dates back to 1826, is a stunning Grade II Listed house located on Shotley Grove Road one of the oldest streets in Shotley Bridge and within the Conservation Area. The house was built for the paper manufacturer and mill owner Joseph Annandale and is set in an elevated position and orientated to fully appreciate the garden views. Built on the original mill site there are the remains of the Low Mill in the gardens of Grove House. At its peak in the nineteenth century the Shotley Grove Paper Mill was one of the largest in England. Today, however, little remains of the mills.
