In 2005 the new bypass opened returning Thorney to be a pretty, quiet village. A journey to Peterborough takes approximately 10 minutes whilst London is 80 minutes away door to door.

Thorney is rich in history and traces its roots back to around 500AD when it started out as a Saxon settlement. Since then the Abbey was built and was an important ecclesiastical centre for a long period of time. Today, Thorney consists of approximately 1000 residential houses with a whole range of shops, amenities, light industry and attractions including a post office, tea room, ex-serviceman’s club, pub, golf centre, medical centre, library, children’s activity farm and many clubs and societies.

Thorney is served by a bus service to both Peterborough & Wisbech which runs six days a week and hourly during the day weekdays and Saturdays. Please check with Stagecoach for exact timetables.

Peterborough is on the East Coast Main Railway line with a regular services north and south. London is a 50 minute journey. The recently refurbished train station has extensive parking.
