Originally built in the 1950s as the local Broadstairs police house this attractive property was completely refurbished and extended by the owners about four years ago. It is now geared for the needs of the 21st century with a stunning open plan living space incorporating six metres of bi-folding doors to the vast terrace and Karndean flooring. You can entertain a dozen people to dinner, sit round the breakfast bar chatting with the family, watch TV in the lounge area or enjoy a game on the vast pool table – it truly provides something for everyone. The well designed kitchen incorporates an elegant central island with a hob, dishwasher and wine cooler and other appliances built into the wall units include two ovens and a fridge/freezer. There is also a utility room and if you want some quiet time you will find a ‘snug’ that makes an ideal spot as a children’s den or could become a study. However if you want to work from home undisturbed there is also an excellent summerhouse at the end of the garden. This large wood cabin is currently being used as a gym but would make a delightful office as it has lighting, heating and is very well insulated – and you can look out across the garden. The spacious landing has lovely views across the park opposite with its tennis courts and rugby pitch. This leads to the family bathroom with its Jacuzzi bath as well as four double bedrooms including two with en suite showers. Outside the beautifully maintained and secluded garden is very easy to look after. There is a large lawn where the kids can play while you can enjoy barbecues, al fresco dining and sunbathing on the enormous, wraparound terrace or just sit and listen to the birds and other wildlife. At the front of the house there is a spacious and welcoming porch as well as a garage/workshop and a large driveway providing off road parking for a number of vehicles.
What the Owner says:
We bought this house as we loved the location. It was near our daughter’s excellent school and is just across the road from the park. It is a very quiet and peaceful part of Broadstairs yet we are not far from the local pubs, the station, the beach and the town centre. However circumstances have changed and we feel it is time to make a move but we hope that the new owners will be able to take advantage of everything that we have created. We have endeavoured to thing of everything in the refurbishment so they can move straight in and not have to do anything except relax and enjoy it.
Over the last few years it has been a delightful challenge to renovate the house and we have literally stripped it back to bare boards and removed walls to create our open plan living area. We have concentrated on incorporating very high quality fittings such as the beautiful wood doors, the kitchen units and work surface as well as the modern bathroom and shower rooms. On warmer days it is great to have the bi-folding doors open as you really feel you are bringing the outdoors inside.
