Description

Long Meadow House is the major portion of a large Victorian house built in 1892 for Sir Beachcroft Towse who lived in the property until his death in1948 when it was divided in two. The generous proportions of the rooms show the grandeur of the period and there is a wealth of period features including magnificent wood panelling, original fireplaces, high ceilings and leaded windows. There is a charming bell tower at the property which is still in working order with a rope hanging from the belfry to the hall.

The entrance lobby opens to a lovely reception/dining hall with panelled walls, open fireplace and door to the impressive drawing room with wood panelled walls, dual aspect leaded light windows, open fireplace with carved wood surround and panelled ceiling. The house is spacious and light throughout, with flexible well proportioned accommodation; on the first floor the master bedroom is a charming room with triple aspect and an en suite bathroom as well as a dressing room with an original cupboard and display cabinet. There are two further bedrooms and a bathroom on the first floor and three bedrooms and a bathroom on the second floor. The property also benefits from an attached self-contained ground floor annexe comprising two bedrooms and bathroom, a large sitting room and kitchen.

Outside
The house is accessed via Long Meadow and leads to a large gravelled parking area and turning circle to the front with double wooden gates opening to a side garden where the double garage and further parking is situated.

To the rear the garden is laid mainly to lawn and sweeps down to a spinney running along the towpath of the River Thames. Throughout are many mature trees and the backdrop of the woodland in the distance provides the perfect setting for this south facing garden.
