Our Time Here - It was the rural location with all the stunning views from the house that drew us to this house, along with the spacious living accommodation. The house is only about 12 years old, but was built in an olde-worlde cottage style with oak beams and oak doors, which gives a lovely homely feel.
We entertain quite a lot, and the property provides space for parking up to 15 cars on the drive, double garage and car port, so this has been a definite bonus of living here for us. The 6m kitchen opens out onto the dining room, so everyone congregates in this area, unless its cold in which case they head for the log burner in the sitting room! Every room looks out over the garden and beyond.
We love the position here, its a beautiful outlook and you can see for miles and miles of Kent countryside. We only have one neighbour, so you can imagine how quiet and peaceful it is here. In the summer its lovely to watch the farmers hay making out the front of the house. The duck pond in the garden is a haven for wildlife, and you can see all sorts of birds from hawks to even a heron from the house.
There is a local shop in the village which belongs to the caravan park, so this is open for papers, milk and other essentials for ten months of the year. The house is located in between Deal, Dover, Canterbury and all the Thanet coastal towns. Its just a mile and a half to the coast at St Margarets Bay, which is an enjoyable walk. Its a 20 minute drive to Canterbury and there is also a train station at Martin Mill, which is on the High Speed Rail link, getting you into London St Pancras in about an hour.
Weve lived in the area all our lives, and we wouldnt really anywhere else. We will be very sad to leave this property but circumstances have dictated that we must move closer to town now as we have a family member moving in with us.
