The Story

SPACE FOR ENTERTAINING
At the centre of the splendid home is an enormous open-plan kitchen breakfast room and living space: this bathed in natural light and presents clean, modern décor. Granite work surfaces and elegant porcelain tiles create a sense of opulence and grandeur. This part of the house never fails to impress visitors and is an outstanding space for daily living and for entertaining.
“It is a fantastic room for the family because we can all be together in one place without ever feeling cramped,” she says. “It is a perfect house for entertaining. On my 50th birthday we had over 100 guests, we hired tables so everyone could eat and socialise together in here and out on the terrace.”

STUNNING VIEWS
When the owners undertook the substantial renovation and extension project on the house, one of the main objectives was to make the most of the stunning countryside views.
“We have a glass wall which looks out over the garden and fields; it is more or less south-facing so we get loads of sunlight – it is just superb!”
The view from the master bedroom balcony is also one of the greatest triumph of the restoration project. And, as the garden is not overlooked, they can sleep with the blinds open and enjoy it all night long and also watch the sun rise over the fields.
“There is nnothing nicer than sitting out here with a cup of coffee in the morning or a glass of wine in the evening. You can even see the Principality (Millennium) Stadium!”

A WELCOME HOME
With six large first floor bedrooms and three en suite bathrooms, the house on St Fagans Drive is always ready to welcome families and guests on any occasion.
“We have had a lot of people to stay over the years and having this much space is absolutely wonderful. Having the private bathrooms is a really nice luxury as well, especially when the entire family is staying!”
At the moment one of the bedrooms is being used a study, evidence of the great flexibility that comes with such a generously sized house.
“Honestly, having all this space is simply fantastic. There are walk-in wardrobes in the master bedroom and in our daughter’s room – and they are almost as big as the rooms themselves!”

ELEGANT SIMPLICITY
Nestled between the grandeur of the main living room and the charming entrance hall lies a formal dining room. As in the rest of the house, this is a room makes no compromises when it comes to size and space. The décor is that of elegant simplicity and also embodies elements of original character.
“We have the original wood blocking on the floor in there. We wanted to make sure that even with all the work we did the house remained sympathetic to its original look and feel – and I think we did that really well in this room,” she says.

BEAUTIFUL BATHROOMS
Every room in the house has been given its own unique look and feel. There has been attention to detail at every stage with the owners considering everything from the layout of rooms to fixtures and fittings.
Even the bathrooms have their own distinct style although all boast the same eye for design the owners have displayed across the entire house.
“We are very pleased with all the bathrooms. The roll-top, claw-foot bath in the family bathroom just feels so luxurious and I love the classic black and white style in there,” she adds. “It has all come together very well.”

Setting The Scene

Through the incredible glass doors at the back of the living room is a remarkable sun terrace that wraps around one side of the house. Beyond the terrace lies a sunken lawn, with enough space for children to play and to have outside equipment, without ever obscuring the picturesque view.
“We have mature hedges and lots of lawn space – and there is potential for someone else to take the garden further if they wished.”
At the front is a driveway that easily accommodates up to five cars, as well as a small lawn area and double garage.
“We fitted the old kitchen units into the garage to make a great utility space,” she says.
