Our Time Here - To quote a 6 year old visitor - “this place is so magical”...

It was the first place to feel special after 3 years of searching for a home. It offers privacy, lovely views and the grounds had a unique and interesting layout with a nice cosy house. The house really had a feeling of a cosy retreat where you could escape from everyday life. That, in combination with the expanse of the amazing gardens made it a winner; each part has its own character and beauty, it’s a garden to suit every mood!

We also fell in love with the great views from the house. Whichever way you turn, you see the beautiful vista of the countryside. There are no near neighbours, unless you count the endlessly amusing sheep, pheasants and bunnies, etc. so there is a real feeling of freedom.

The lower quarry garden with it's fascinating landscape is probably our favourite area. It’s a playground for adults and children alike and a hidden place to contemplate. Indoors, we love to sit in the dining room at twilight with the open fire blazing looking out the window to see the fields.

The peace and quiet are the highlight of living here. Even though there are no near neighbours there is a strong sense of community in the village with an active village hall and all sorts of activities available to participate in. People are really friendly and it’s always cheering to get a smile and a wave from the passing horse riders! Also there are people to call on not too far away should you need them. The location gives the feeling of being in the middle of beautiful countryside yet close enough to good fast roads.

We will always remember our many gatherings with friends and family here, including frisbee-by-moonlight, badminton, sing-songs. And then waving goodbye, to enjoy a quiet night in front of a roaring fire. We will miss the quiet creative times we have enjoyed too, walking around the garden with my guitar singing badly, and sitting outside after sunset listening to a rainforest bird chorus from the bluebell woods.
