Steading Cottage, Ward of Turin is situated amongst attractive rolling Angus farmland, on the northern edge of Rescobie Loch. To the south is Dunnichen Hill, with Turin Hill immediately to the north. The Angus Glens, which reach deep into the Grampian Mountains, are to the north. The Angus coastline is only some eight miles to the east.

Angus is well known for its range of outdoor pursuits. Fishing can be taken on the North and South Esks. The Angus Glens provide some of the best hill walking in eastern Scotland, together with skiing at Glenshee. Loch fishing is available locally at Rescobie. As well as a local golf course at Forfar there are two courses at Letham Grange (Arbroath) and Carnoustie is within easy driving distance. The nearby Balgavies Loch is a Nature Reserve.

There are primary schools at Aberlemno and in the nearby village of Letham, which also provides local shopping. The local towns of Arbroath, Brechin and Forfar, the county town, provide more extensive shopping, together with secondary schooling, leisure centres and business facilities. Private schooling is available at Dundee High School with a bus from Forfar and at Lathallan near Johnshaven.

The A90, at Forfar and Brechin, provides fast access to Dundee, Perth and Central Scotland, and north to Aberdeen. Both Dundee and Aberdeen provide all the services expected of major cities, while Perth and Edinburgh are also within reasonable driving distance. There is an east coast mainline railway station at Arbroath, with a sleeper service. Both Aberdeen and Edinburgh airports provide a range of domestic and European flights and there are direct services from Dundee to London Stansted and Amsterdam.

Angus is one of Scotland's most productive farming counties. There is a mart in Forfar and the locality is well served with agricultural merchants and dealers, together with a successful machinery ring.

Description

The garden in front is enclosed and mainly down to grass with shrubs and flowers. A hedge to the west provides shelter. To the side and rear are vegetable borders, and there is an area of woodland behind. There are good views towards Turin and Pitscandly Hills to the north west.

The Land
Lying to the west of Steading Cottage are two fields extending to some 28.71 acres, including 16.65 acres arable and 11.91 acres pasture. The land is classified by the James Hutton Institute as Class 3(1) and is mainly level with a height of 60 m (195') above sea level. Directions

From the north take the A90 south to Brechin and from Brechin take the A933 signposted for Arbroath. After 5 miles turn right at the crossroads onto the B9113 (Forfar/Montrose road) signposted for Forfar, and then after a further 5 miles the turning into Ward of Turin will be seen on the left.

From the south take the A90 from Dundee and take the turning to Forfar. From Forfar take the B9113 signposted to Montrose. Continue on this road for some 4.5 miles, passing Rescobie Church, and the turning into Ward of Turin will be seen on the right.
