The Story

The ground floor apartment at Belgar House was just perfect – from its size and layout through to its location. The current owner bought her home when the impressive block was newly built. “The number of rooms it offered was ideal for me,” she recalls. “It had a master bedroom with an en suite bathroom and then a family bathroom too. The apartment had also been beautifully finished, with a lovely, contemporary kitchen and some extremely attractive flooring.” She wanted a home that offered convenience to local amenities, as well as good transport links for commuting: “Belgar House is well-placed for reaching underground stations at Northwood and Moor Park,” she adds.

FLEXIBLE LIVING
Exclusive Belgar House is a development of five select apartments, with residents’ parking and communal grounds. The ground floor apartment offers three bedrooms, as well as an entrance hall, double aspect, open-plan living space and modern fitted kitchen area.
“All the rooms are very spacious,” she says. “The master bedroom is especially airy and the open-plan living area has surround sound.” With three bedrooms, the accommodation can be very flexible, she observes. “I wanted to be able to use all of them as bedrooms but someone else might choose to arrange one as a study or as an extra reception room perhaps.”

GARDEN PLEASURES
The apartment has been perfect for entertaining, with lots of room for guests to spread out. The main, open-plan kitchen and drawing room offers good sociable space and the layout of the apartment is perfect for parties.
“The hall leads out into the garden so people can wander outside when the weather is fine,” she says. “I have had a number of parties at the apartment over the years and they were all very successful.” Having the communal gardens was an added bonus: these offer areas of lawn and leafy corners for sitting out and enjoying the sunshine. “It is nice to sit out there and relax in the summer,” she says. “People also use the garden for entertaining.”

WOODLAND WONDER
Those who enjoy outdoor living can also spend time at Ruislip Woods National Nature Reserve. This is an ancient, semi natural woodland, within walking distance of the apartment and contains areas that are remnants of the wild wood that once completely covered England after the last ice age. It has been managed from at least the 11th century and was a hunting ground for deer and wild boar, as well as shooting pheasants and woodcock. Today Ruislip Woods National Nature Reserve is approximately 755 acres and is the biggest single area of woodland in Greater London. It is home to a variety of wildlife and has colour and interest all year round. Four extensive woodlands - Park Wood, Copse Wood, Mad Bess Wood and Bayhurst Wood together form a large complex of structurally diverse and species-rich ancient woodland here.

OUT AND ABOUT
Moor Park is also within reach of Belgar House. This is an elegant 17th century mansion, set within several hundred acres of land, and home to a famous golf club. The Copsewood Estate is one of Northwood most exclusive locations featuring Northwood golf course and a protected forest. There are extensive sports and fitness facilities nearby for golf, tennis, football, cricket and the Virgin Active Sports and Social club in Ducks Hill Road is about half a mile from central Northwood. “There is certainly plenty to do in this area, if you enjoy sports, walking or getting out and about in the fresh air.”

IDEALLY PLACED
Northwood town centre is also a pleasant place to spend time at the weekends and after work. It has a good choice of shops, cafés, restaurants and supermarkets.
“It really is ideal,” she says. “Everything you need is there and, of course, it is so easy to get into the centre of London too.” For anyone who enjoys going to the theatre, exhibitions or shopping in the city, the journey only takes 20 minutes, she explains. The M25 (junction 18 at Chorleywood) is only about five miles away and provides good access to the M1, M40 and M4 motorways for travel across the country, as well as reaching the airports at Heathrow, Gatwick, Luton and Stansted.
“And it is so simple if you have to commute,” she adds. “Living at Belgar House was really very easy indeed.”
