Full description

Tenure: Freehold

This large, executive detached home is situated in the village of Dunkirk (neighbouring Boughton-under-Blean) which lies between Faversham and Canterbury.

A double glazed porch leads into a specious and light entrance hall with a useful utility/coat cupboard, a cloakroom and the stairs to the first floor. The property benefits from a large L shaped sitting/dining room which was formerly separate rooms, the owners have retained both sets of doorways giving you the option to re-divide if desired.

The sitting room has a limestone fireplace and hearth with a remote control real flame gas fire, wall lights, a dual aspect and patio doors onto the garden. The dining area which is a good size also has double doors onto the rear garden.

The kitchen/breakfast room has a ceramic tiled floor, two doors onto the side garden and an excellent range of wall and base units with light wooden doors. It has a built-in five ring gas hob, with a double electric oven under. It has a single drainer stainless steel sink unit and space and plumbing for a washing machine, dishwasher and fridge/freezer.

The property was built with an integral double garage. The current owners have created a utility room using the back of one half of this garage. This has wall and base units with work surfaces over and access into the remaining L shaped garage, which retains its metal up and over doors and has power and light.

To the first floor is a large landing with an airing cupboard. The master bedroom has built-in wardrobes and cupboards, a dual aspect with double doors onto a Juliette balcony. It has an en suite shower room. There are three further bedrooms with a combination of built-in wardrobe or cupboard space, one has a Jack and Jill style door onto the family bathroom.

At the front of the property is a large block paved driveway with parking for up to six cars. It has a lawn area, a tap and a purple wisteria. The rear garden is a good size, mainly laid to lawn with mature shrubs. It enjoys the sun for most of the day and has two patio areas. There is a further large area of garden to the side of the house with a side access.

Weatherall Close is a small development of detached houses in the village of Dunkirk. It is approximately three miles east of Faversham and five miles west of Canterbury and is situated next to Blean Woods which are a designated Site of Special Scientific Interest. Dunkirk has a new village hall, garden centre, farm shop and the Red Lion public house. Its neighbouring village of Boughton-under-Blean has a long main street with a post office, village store, a restaurant and a couple of pubs, a doctors surgery, a well regarded primary school and other independent traders. The villages are very closely linked and have a real sense of community.

Faversham and Canterbury offer a wide choice of educational, shopping and recreational facilities. Dunkirk is close to the A2 which gives easy access to the motorway network. There is a regular bus service through the village to Canterbury and Faversham and the railway stations at both Canterbury and Faversham offer a regular service to London Victoria and Charing Cross as well as a high speed link to London St Pancras.

GENERAL INFORMATION: There is an orchard area at the front of the development which is owned communally. This carries an annual maintenance charge which for 2015/2016 was £180. The internal work to open up the living/dining room and the partition of the garage was carried out without gaining building regulation approval.
