Fold Cottage
Current owners Peter and Carol were looking for a property near a town with an ecclesiastical connection by name, so Fold Cottage in Church Stretton was just perfect. Their seventh renovation, the couple saw the potential in the cottage and set about restoring it to its former glory and more. A new roof ensued, as well as replacement vertical timbers and base wall plates, and an extension was added including kitchen, study, utility room, master bedroom and en suite bathroom. Living on the building site for 18 months, Peter and Carol quite literally built the cottage up around them, with the help of the builder who restored English Heritage site Stokesay Castle. Favourite room
“We have a typical farmhouse kitchen complete with AGA and large dining table. It is the room bears our own stamp the most" says Peter. “I run a business, Carol's Cakes, so I do all of my baking in the kitchen and have it organised perfectly" adds Carol. Favourite aspect of the grounds or local area “The cottage used to belong to a fold, so for many years the garden was used for keeping sheep before they were taken to market. Therefore the ground is incredibly fertile! Even plants which are supposed to be dwarf varieties grow large here! We have plum, apple and cherry trees, as well as raspberries, redcurrants and blackcurrants growing." Memorable event or other favourite feature “We have had lots of parties at Fold Cottage, but the most memorable was a surprise party for Carol's 70th birthday" says Peter. “Family and friends came from all over the country – the house was packed and it was like feeding the 5000! We got the caterer to sneak in around the back on the h (truncated)

What they'll miss most
“We will miss our neighbours and friends here" says Carol. “We often say that if we could pick up the house and garden and move it, we would!" adds Peter. Peter and Carol
