Lying approximately 6 miles to the south is Kinross with a medical centre, supermarket, sports centre and independent retailers. Kinross High School, built in 2009, is within a comfortable distance whilst there are the independent schools of Strathallan, Kilgraston and Craigclowan and Dollar Academy all within a comfortable daily distance. Perth, lying some 11 miles to the north provides extensive amenities including national retailers, banks, railway and bus stations, cinema, theatre and concert halls. Edinburgh, with its international airport, Waverley train station and city amenities is approximately 34 miles to the south.
There is a wealth of recreational activities within close proximity of the subjects. For the outdoor enthusiast the surrounding countryside of both Perthshire and Kinross-shire offer many interesting walks, pony trekking opportunities and mountain bike routes. Golfers have the choice of two eighteen hole courses in Kinross, a nine hole course in Milnathort approximately 4 miles distant, whilst the courses at St. Andrews and Gleneagles are reached in approximately half an hour's drive. The RSPB Vane Farm forms part of the nearby Loch Leven National Nature Reserve and gives wonderful year round opportunities for the ornothologist.
