Grounds - With 15 acres of the private estate to enjoy, there's a different view and different experience for every day. The private park has been carefully restored and enhanced. To reach your new home within The Manor House, you will come through secure gates and along a half-mile driveway. The setting is special, all around is greenery: listed trees more than a century old, with grassland and lawns and areas given over to nature. There is a tennis court for the sole use of residents, you will find the original park walls and open fields, formal Italianate gardens with original fountain and statues, natural woodland walks, including a water rock garden and a sunken garden. The formal gardens were designed by James Pulham and Son, award-winning Victorian landscape designers which exhibited and won medals at Londons Great Exhibition of 1851 and the 1862 International Exhibition.
The History - The Manor House at Node Park was built in circa 1815 as a private country residence for a wealthy Hertfordshire family. The property remained in private ownership from 1815 until 1947 and has had a number of distinguished owners including William Reid (1849-1867), a partner in the brewing firm of Watney, Combe & Reid and Charles Alexander Nall-Cain (1905-1926), the First Lord Brocket.
In 1947 it was operated as the headquarters for the Palestine Police for the Colonies. In 1949 until 1952 the house was converted to a hotel and restaurant. In 1952 Shell Mex and BP bought the property and operated it as a training centre until it was sold to Safeway in 1990 who in turn sold it to Chartridge Conference Company, who had used the property as a conference and wedding venue until 2011.
