A very pretty period cottage, beautifully presented, with a detached one bedroom annexe and gardens bordered by the Pill Hill Brook with single bank fishing.
The village of Upper Clatford lies due south of Andover and the A303 in the Anton valley. The pretty village streets are lined with a number of period houses and thatched cottages and it has a range of local amenities including All Saints, a 12th century church and the Crook & Shears public house with a shop/post office in neighbouring Goodworth Clatford. The town of Andover has an extensive range of shopping facilities and a mainline station to London Waterloo whilst the A303 gives access to the West Country or northwards to the M25, London and the airports.
The cottage is a very pretty colour washed period cottage with inset triple glazed small pane windows under a slate roof. Within the last few years the current owners have carried out extensive renovations and improvements including a new roof and windows, adding the conservatory and two porches and fitting a new kitchen and cloakroom. There are many exposed timbers and period features and good ceiling heights.
The accommodation is beautifully proportioned and full of character. The drawing room has a large inglenook fireplace with wood burning stove and an archway opens into a secondary seating area or study. The kitchen has been recently fitted with a wide range of floor and wall cupboards and drawers, Corian worktops and integrated appliances. From the kitchen an archway opens through to the formal dining room with open fireplace and further access into the large conservatory with a door opening out into the garden. On the first floor there are three double bedrooms, bathroom and the guest bedroom has an adjoining shower room.
From the lane a pedestrian gate opens onto a path leading to the front door. From the parking area in front of the double garage a further gate leads to the rear porch with access into the cottage through the kitchen. There is a double garage, part of which is now used as a workshop and a garden shed. There is parking for several cars in front of the garage. There is also off road parking for a number of cars.
The Detached Annexe
The annexe has been converted from an original grainstore and comprises a sitting room with kitchenette on the ground floor and a double bedroom and shower room on the first floor.
The delightful private gardens have sweeping lawns studded with trees and shrubs and the boundaries are hedged and open through to the Pill Hill Brook which flows along the north eastern boundary where there is single bank fishing. They make a wonderful setting for this charming period cottage.
