Our Time Here - We have had the property for the past 34 years. It's such a unique house overlooking the village green, and it really stood out from the rest of the places we had looked at. It was completely empty at the time so we noticed all the lovely little details and we fell in love with it.
The hall is an overwhelmingly space. It really welcomes you in and gives a wonderful first impression leading to a wider than normal staircase. We spend the majority of our time in the kitchen-living space. It has an AGA, a big kitchen table and has been the centre of the home for the whole family over the years. Everybody tends to gather here, it's a warm, homely and a very social space.
It's a lovely looking house featuring some unusual, eye-catching windows; which are so exclusive to the unique design of the house that we had to have special aluminium casements made when we replaced the original wooden frames. We also landscaped the garden to be split level, so the upper terrace of the garden is like a stage, much to our grandchildren's delight.
We love the village feel of the location and the proximity to the beach, just a 10-15 minute walk down to Joss Bay. There is a post office, pub and church, along with several good schools within easy reach. You can easily walk to the golf course or tennis courts and there are plenty of places to go walking with the dog. Broadstairs town itself is not too far either, and there are good bus services locally. We love the area so much that we have moved just around the corner!
Our children grew up in the house and we have so many happy memories here. It has been a wonderful place to raise a family, and we have held pretty much every kind of important event in the house (birthdays and anniversaries etc.) during the past 30 years! Now that the children have moved out and have their own families, we felt it was time to downsize, but we will remember our time in this wonderful family home with great fondness.
