The Vendor's View - My parents owned this property for over 30 years after buying it at auction. It seems that they found this property at the right place and the right time. As a DIY enthusiast, my father was able to restore the house to its former glory, and took great pleasure in doing so over a number of years. A couple of years after purchasing the house, Margate Pier was blown down in a bad storm. My father went down to the seafront early in the morning to reclaim the timber, so all the beams in the front of the house are from Margate Pier!
My parents particularly loved the stunning views; from the front you look out over St Mildreds Bay, and the other aspect overlooks Margates sunken gardens. The sunsets here are really spectacular, and everyones favourite room is the front lounge. We often used to joke that there was no need for a television thanks to the amazing sunsets over the sea. My parents used to have a telescope in there and as a fisherman, my father loved looking out at sea.
The area is quiet and peaceful, and the house is situated on a lovely, wide seafront road so you get a feeling of space around you. It feels very tranquil, yet accessible, with local shops and amenities within a 5-10 minute car journey, or 15-20 minute walk. There is a bus stop on the next road across and it is a friendly neighbourhood. The beach at St Mildreds Bay is no more than a 2 minute walk away. There are a number of cafes in front of the chalets, and then you are on the beautiful blue flag sandy beach!
My father considerably extended the property, with a huge lounge and conservatory at the back of the house and a large bedroom above. Its a very versatile and spacious place, and would suit a variety of uses as a family home or a wonderful place to entertain.
