Why you’ll like it

The substantial Victorian villas overlooking the park hold an air of grandeur with handsome, red brick and gabled facades, set back from the road by sweeping driveways and mature trees. This house has a corner plot, and like many houses on the street, it has been converted into sizable apartments. You approach up the central stone steps, and through the original panelled door into a wide communal hallway complete with the original, patterned floor tiles. You door is up on the first floor, and you are initially welcomed into a small lobby with storage, then up a few steps to the spacious landing from which all the rooms reside. From here, the scale of the flat becomes apparent, as every room is generously proportioned with high ceilings, and lit naturally from wide bay windows framing green views of the garden, and the grassy velodrome in the park. The decor is neutral throughout, with oatmeal carpets and creamy walls, and many rooms have retained the period cornicing, window panelling and picture rails which add character.

The bedrooms are fairly equally sized, with built in wardrobes, and ample space for king size beds without compromising on floor space. The master has an en suite bathroom; tiled in white with a peach mosaic border and a shower over the bath. This decor is mirrored in the main bathroom which is separate, and also has a shower over the bathtub.

The living room is of gracious proportions with space for comfortable sofas as well as a dining table and chairs, and the westerly window looks out over the balcony. The kitchen adjoins the living room, and it is from here you can access the balcony which will fit a small table and chairs to sit and watch the sun sets, or to enjoy a drink or a meal during the summer months. The kitchen is modern, with units in a Shaker style, and these are topped with dark granite, which flows seamlessly onto the walls as splashbacks. There’s space and plumbing for a washing machine, and space for a freestanding American fridge freezer, but the gas hob and electric oven are integrated.

Bear in Mind:

While the apartment is in fine condition as it is, there is still scope to modernise to add value, and to put your own stamp on it.
