4 bedroom semi-detached house for sale

The Former Vicarage, Seend, Wiltshire, SN12

Sold STC £575,000

Property Description

Full description

Tenure: Freehold

Located in the middle of Seend, this is a classic Victorian village vicarage with big rooms, high ceilings, a fabulously large walled garden and masses of history. Coming to the market for the first time in generations, The Former Vicarage is a very lovely property in one of our most sought after villages.

This attached house has been well maintained over the years but has been a functional property at the heart of the community; indeed, it featured in a television series about country vicars. Ripe for updating and adapting for modern family life, this is a rare opportunity to acquire a very special home.

Seend is a thriving and popular village with many beautiful period houses of which the Vicarage is one. There is a shop and post office, a very well regarded primary school, church and village hall with a playing field.

There is a comprehensive range of facilities in Devizes (5 miles to the east) including several supermarkets including Marks and Spencer Food and Sainsbury, a cinema, a thriving weekly antiques and general market, independent shops and restaurants and a sports centre. The larger centres of Salisbury and Bath are within a 20 mile radius. Rail services are from Pewsey, Westbury and Chippenham to London Paddington (around 70 minutes).

There are first class schools in the area including Devizes, Lavington and a variety in Trowbridge and Melksham and in the private sector St Margaret's and St Mary's, Calne, Marlborough College and Dauntsey's.

The surrounding countryside offers a wealth of sporting and leisure opportunities including walking, riding and golf, and the Kennet and Avon canal with its famous run of Caen Hill locks is close by.

Leaving Devizes in the direction of Bath, go down Caen Hill and drive along the A361 then take the turning toward Seend at the traffic lights (left if coming from Devizes, right if coming from Bath). Continue up the hill and along the High Street. On the right hand side will be The Lye, (the village playing field) turn right immediately after this into Rusty Lane and go down the track, taking the second left hand turn into the driveway of The Vicarage and park here.
