The Vendor's View - As keen wildlife lovers, we bought the property off plan in 2001, mainly thanks to the councils plan for a Millennium Woodland to surround this and the other 3 properties being built here. Although this sadly never came to fruition, it did enable us to purchase two acres to the rear of the house where we have created our very own woodland.
We particularly love the antique Victorian open fireplace, which we reclaimed from the flat at our shop in Herne Bay; but our favourite room, without a doubt, is the conservatory. It looks out over our woodland and its a lovely place to spend time. The woodland is planted with all native species and, along with the pond, it has encouraged all sorts of wildlife, including sparrowhawks, kestrels, woodpeckers, finches and even a heron, amongst many others.
This is the only property in town with two acres of land, and its like living in our own little world here. There are lovely, uninterrupted rural views at the back of the house, which we adore, and there is a covenant on the agricultural land behind, so it wont be built on.
We have lived in the area all our lives and absolutely love it here. The location is so accessible: approximately 9 minutes to Westwood Cross shopping and leisure centre; the station is less than 10 minutes walk; a hospital; and the road links are very good. The sports centre with a pool is just at the end of the road, and the football club and cricket ground are around the corner.
There are also several good schools in the local area. With Tivoli Woods and Hartsdown Park both nearby, its perfect if youre a dog owner. And a real highlight of living here is the proximity to Westbrook Bay where we have our beach hut approximately just 4 minutes away. In terms of amenities, it really is an ideal place to live, offering everything you could possibly want.
Now that our children have grown up, we feel that it is the right time to downsize. We have thoroughly enjoyed our time here as a family, and will certainly miss the woodlands, wildlife and the views.
